Friendship with Stratford-upon-Avon

 England (Map) - www.stratford-upon-avon.co.uk

We have also links to the small town of Stratford-upon-Avon in England for many years. The town rose to fame as the birthplace of the famous English poet and dramatist William Shakespeare. The name ‘Stratford’ means ‘street ford’ and is derived from a bridge that was used to cross the river Avon during the era of Roman settlement. Approximately 30,000 inhabitants live in the town (as of 2001). Stratford is situated about 30km south of Birmingham in the wonderfully rural Warwickshire, on the banks of the river Avon. It is one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations.
