Schiller week

Every year, the week surrounding Schiller’s birthday on 10th November is celebrated as ‘Schiller week’. The birthday of Marbach’s great son is commemorated at numerous events, some of which have a tradition spanning more than a century and have long become a cherished ritual. The schools participate with readings, plays and of course with the well-known presentation of flowers by the primary school pupils at the monument to Schiller. Various clubs and associations perform in front of the house where Schiller was born in a feast of music, song and drama. Shops and business stay open on the Sunday of Schiller week.
